To industry observers, year on year can be the telling story; not only is the comparison across the same seasons (in this case spring/summer) when the audience's activity and listening patterns are likely to be similar, but the passage of time over four quarterly research periods gives an indication of any trends.
By this measure, two broadcasters are most of note; BBC Radio Ulster/Foyle sees a decline in weekly audience (reach) from 542,000 to 533,000 and total hours by 22%, while Citybeat posted gains in both - 126,000 to 159,000, and up 54% in hours.
Elsewhere in the commercial sector, Downtown and Cool have increased their reach by 13,000 and 17,000 respectively, but listening hours did not follow suit.
The Q Network added to their hours in the year (up by 31%) while reach experienced a slight decrease, and U105 suffered a small loss in both reach and hours over that time period.
