This coincides with Downtown increasing its profile in the North West by broadcasting a number of shows each week from their Foyleside studio, and also giving more promotion to encourage the take up of DAB.
Sister station Cool FM added 12,000 listeners over the year taking the reach to 393,000, but saw a decrease in hours of 12%.
BBC Radio Ulster had an annual increase of 17,000 to 524,000, but total listening hours fell by 11%, though were up on the quarter.
Citybeat was a star performer last time, and year-on-year enjoys an increase of 35,000 to 147,000, with hours also up, but on the quarter the picture is less rosy with a fall in both reach and hours.
The Q Network lost 5,000 listeners year-on-year, but total hours increased by 35%, though were slightly down on the quarter.
U105 also lost 5,000 listeners (now 195,000) and 12% of its listening hours compared to this time last year, with a rise in these of 3% in the quarter a small crumb of comfort.
